Kite

Here are some pictures of Quinn and Rich flying a kite for the first time in mid-February. The second picture is Quinn's reaction when he let go of the handle and the kite flew away. I should have gotten a picture of Rich chasing after it!

Rice and Beans Party

We lost our camera for almost a month (ahem, it was found in my jacket pocket) so we have a backlog of pictures to be posted. These are from a rice and beans party we had in mid-Feb. Great fun!Keith, Robin, and Logan

New Release

When Nolan was born, neither Rich nor I thought he particularly looked like any of us, including Quinn. Well, after looking at baby pictures of Quinn yesterday, we realize that Nolan is Quinn 2.0! But bigger and with darker hair :). Here are some pictures of both...

Quinn's Opinion

Whenever Quinn sees Nolan, he says, "Aaw, he cute!" I tell him that he's cute, too, and he says, "No, I biiiiig." Apparently you can't be big AND cute in Quinn's book. He's also fond of saying, "I love my little brother." We hope to keep it that way!

Nolan says, "Mom, why do you do this to me?" Because you're so cute!

Pictures from this week...

Nolan has sideburns!
You can't really appreciate how long his toes are from this picture. They might be double jointed.

Story time

The other day Jack was soaking up some sun on the back porch when Quinn decided to read him some stories. Jack thoroughly enjoyed it.

Hands up!

Stop kid! What did you do with my free time?!

Giddy Up

Nolan had his first outing yesterday, to an appt at Winni's office. He's doing very well- now 9 lbs! Since he's past his birth weight, I can let him self-regulate with feedings a bit and let him sleep at night if he so chooses. Since he's been hard to wake up for night feedings, he just might decide to skip a few. We're loving having a "sleeper" for the time being. Nolan's hair looks much redder in these pictures than in person :).

After dropping us off, Quinn broke into heavy tears because Nolan wasn't next to him in the car anymore and even said he didn't want to go swimming. He LOVES swimming but maybe not as much as he loves his little brother. Below is a picture of Quinn and his favorite peep, Oliver. And one of Quinn fishing with Grammee.
Jack gets excited every time I put Nolan in the eden carrier because he associates it with walks. Sorry, buddy, can't go for walks for another week or so. So far he hasn't seemed too depressed to have another little one in the house!

Nolan Brett Taylor

Nolan Brett Taylor was born Tuesday, February 24th at 5:18am. He is a big boy at 8lbs 14oz and 22 1/4 inches! Much larger than expected!

Contractions started around 11pm on Monday night and I was able to rest through them until 3am. I woke Rich saying my contractions were about 8 minutes apart and we called Winni, our midwife. After hearing me breathe through a contraction, she thought it best we get ready to head to the birth center. She said she'd call when she was 15 minutes out. I really wanted to walk to the center so we headed out around 3:45, stopping every block for a contraction. I'll never forget standing in the middle of Cornwall Ave at 4am having a contraction!

As soon as we got to the birth center, my water broke during the next contraction. Labor really picked up from there! We got settled into a room a little after 4am and Nolan was born about an hour later. All went well with the delivery- no trips to the hospital this time :). Both Winni and the assistant midwife, Eloisa, were excellent. It was very unreal to go through labor so fast but I'm very glad it wasn't a drawn-out affair!

Sleepy baby

Nolan in his usual state- asleep. We have to wake him up to feed him and even then it's very difficult! He definitely enjoys his shut eye. Of course, this will likely change any minute!

Big brother Quinn!
